IN A relief to the residents of Vadavathoor, the biomining of waste at the Vadavathoor dumping yard is finally progressing.

For decades, waste had been accumulated at the dump site in Vadavathoor, located in Vijayapuram grama panchayat and owned by the Kottayam municipality.

This waste is now being removed through the biomining and bio-remediation process with the technical and financial support of the Kerala Solid Waste Management Project (KSWMP), with ₹16.16 crore from the KSWMP and an additional ₹1.4 crore from the Suchitwa Mission under the Swacch Bharat Mission (SBM).
