Family alleges foul play in death of man released from police custody

THE family of Suresh, a 57-year-old man from Koipuram, Pathanamthitta, has alleged foul play in his death, six days after being released from police custody.
Suresh was found hanging in a field in the Konni police station limits, about 25km from his house in Varayannoor.
An FIR registered by the Konni police said the body of an unknown man was found hanging in a tree in the Mangosteen plantation of one Biju Philip at 07.30am on March 22.
Before the incident, the Koipuram police had taken Suresh into custody on March 16 for possession of ganja, and later released him after registering a case.
