More acquittals than convictions under anti-religious conversion act

The first five years of Madhya Pradesh's stringent anti-religious conversion law, often dubbed the 'anti-Love Jihad' law, have been marked by more acquittals than convictions.
According to the detailed figures presented by the Mohan Yadav government in the Vidhan Sabha on Tuesday, as many as 283 cases were registered under various provisions of the MP Freedom of Religion Ordinance 2020, and its successor MP Freedom of Religion Act 2021, between January 1, 2020 and July 15, 2025.
