Missing strays spark concern among animal lovers of Assam’s Lakhimpur

WITH a recent Supreme Court order mandating the relocation of stray dogs to shelters following sterilisation or vaccination, animal lovers have lodged police complaints about a large number of street dogs missing from this northern town in Assam’s Lakhimpur.
In a November 19 complaint, four animal lovers — Dimpi Pareek, Dipankar Saikia, Luhit Das and Ritupal Phukan - alleged that the stray dog population in Lakhimpur reduced abnormally, raising serious concerns about their safety and welfare.
