WITH less than a year left for the upcoming local body elections and subsequent Assembly elections in another three months, the Bharat Dharma Jana Sena (BDJS), a key constituent of National Democratic Alliance (NDA), appears to be taking a more assertive political stance to claim its demands.

- ABHILASH CHANDRAN @Kottayam

As part of the move, the BDJS Kottayam district committee has called for a withdrawal from the NDA, citing continued neglect in the coalition. A leaders' meeting of the district committee held in the presence of BDJS state president Thushar Vellappally on Sunday formally passed a resolution making this demand. According to BDJS leaders, the party has been facing neglect for the past nine years ever since it joined the coalition in 2016. The unanimous resolution also entrusted Thushar to take an appropriate decision as well.
