Strike halts bus services across Raichur

NWKRTC, police try hard to persuade employees to resume duty; many passengers seen waiting for buses at terminus

DAILY life in Belagavi city and rural parts of the district was impacted due to the ongoing strike by employees of North Western Karnataka Road Transport Corporation (NWKRTC). With the majority of the staff abstaining from duty, regular bus services came to a standstill for some time, but some buses resumed service after noon.

On an average day, around 630 buses operate in Belagavi, while the Chikkodi depot alone manages around 668 buses. Approximately 4,300 employees work across various routes. However, several buses have not left the depots since Tuesday morning. Only a few buses arriving from distant rural areas have managed to reach the Belagavi central bus station.
