SC turns down review plea on electoral bonds

April 05, 2025

THE Supreme Court has rejected a petition seeking review of its earlier decision denying the petitions for confiscating ₹16,518 crore received by political parties under the 2018 electoral bond scheme.

- Suchitra Kalyan Mohanty @ New Delhi

The review plea was filed by one Khem Singh Bhati challenging the top court's decision of August 2, 2024.

"We don't find any merit in the review plea. Accordingly, we dismiss it," said a three-judge bench led by Chief Justice Sanjiv Khanna, which was comprised of Justices JB Pardiwala and Manoj Misra, while dismissing the review plea.

On August 2, 2014, the SC rejected a batch of pleas, including the one filed by Bhati, who filed the review, seeking a court-monitored probe into the electoral bonds scheme (EBS) and observed it couldn't order a roving inquiry.
