THE Urban Development Department, District Administration, Karnataka Urban Water Supply and Sewerage Board and Municipality, Humanabad, Chitaguppa and Hallikheda (B) towns laid the foundation stone for Rs 1.60 crore Karanja Reservoir Water Supply Development Project under the Centrally Sponsored Amrutha 2.0 Scheme and Rs 8.5 crore 33/11 kV power substation in Nimbur village by GESCOM.

While attending the event, Minister for Forests, Environment & Ecology and Bidar district in-charge Eshwar B Khandre said, "Water is life, food can be imported if needed, roads can function without electricity but without water it is impossible to survive. Water is as important to humans as air."

He said that cities are being renovated. People are migrating from villages to cities for many reasons. Due to this, pressure is increasing in urban areas. Slums are being created officially and unofficially, he alleged. He highlighted that the settlements need drinking water, electric lights, and a drainage system.
