Farmers show disgrace to CM's move to set up industries in dist

SHOWING disgrace to the announcement made by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in the budget of setting up an industrial area in Tidagundi village of the district, the farmer's committee said they don't want the setting up of industries at the cost of high-yielding fertile land.

The move faced resistance from the beginning only as the farmers opposed it for a long time. It may be noted that the CM announced that to boost industrialisation in North Karnataka, a flatted factory with plug-and-play facilities will be established in Tidagundi in Vijayapura's new industrial area.

"We are not against the setting up of industries as they too are important for the development, but we don't want that at the cost of high-yielding fertile land," said Sangamesh Sagar, the district president of Karnataka Rajya Raita Sangha.
