A delegation of Jilla Raitha Horata Samithi (JRHS) led by former president of Kalaburagi APMC Avvanna Myakeri and Dayanand Patil met Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Kalaburagi district Minister Priyank Kharge in Bengaluru on Thursday and requested to provide Rs 800 crore for giving crop loss compensation to the farmers who sustained loss due to wilt disease tur crop in Kalaburagi.

The JRHS in its memorandum has stated that tur has been grown in 6.6 lakh hectares of land in Kalaburagi district. The Joint Director of Agriculture Department in his report submitted to the government has said that tur crop has been affected in 1,82,963 hectares of land due to wilt disease, inferior quality of seeds and shortage of humidity.
