Dismissing opposition's allegations that the state has gone bankrupt due to the implementation of the government's five guarantees, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah clarified that capital expenditure has actually increased in the latest budget.

- EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE @ Hubballi

Speaking at the 'Samvidhan Ulisi, Belayerike Ilisi' (Protect the Constitution, Curb Price Rise) rally organised by the KPCC here on Thursday, Siddaramaiah stated that the state has allocated Rs 83,000 crore for capital expenditure in the 2025-26 budget, a significant jump from Rs 52,000 crore in the previous year.

He also highlighted a substantial rise in departmental allocations, noting that Rs 25,000 crore has been earmarked for major and minor irrigation projects. "The BJP has no moral right to question the state's development," Siddaramaiah asserted, criticising the opposition for misleading narratives.
