Above-normal rain likely in 2nd half of monsoon season, predicts IMD

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted above-normal rainfall during the second half of the southwest monsoon season (August-September) 2025.
This rainfall is expected to exceed 106% of the Long Period Average (LPA), which amounts to 422.8 mm.
Additionally, in a significant new initiative, the IMD has launched a granular weather forecast system at the block level across the country's 7,200 administrative blocks. This development is expected to enhance the IMD's weather prediction.
