Siddu says will not evict farmers, rejects demand to withdraw '73 notification

THE State Government has decided not to evict farmers cultivating land earlier notified as Waqf property and not to recover Waqf land where temples or other religious structures have come up or marked as Hindu graveyards.

THE State Government has decided not to evict farmers cultivating land earlier notified as Waqf property and not to recover Waqf land where temples or other religious structures have come up or marked as Hindu graveyards. However, the government has taken a tough stand against encroachment or illegal occupation of Waqf land. It has stated that action will be taken to clear such encroachments.

Meanwhile, if mosques, dargahs, madrassas and Idgahs have come up on Waqf land, they would be mutated in the name of the Waqf Board. The government has decided to form a committee headed by a retired High Court judge, if necessary, to clear confusion over Waqf land.
