Ron Cong MLA goes green on his birthday, plants 10,000 saplings

KNOWN for launching various pro-farmer initiatives, Congress MLA from Ron, G S Patil, 78, celebrated his birthday on Thursday by organising a Van Mahotsav (also known as a festival of trees or forest festival). He oversaw the planting of 10,000 saplings in Ron town.
Apart from this, he has appealed to the villagers to plant saplings in their houses and water them till the onset of monsoon season.
Patil had requested people not to bring cakes or bouquets on his birthday but to plant as many saplings as they can. He has also urged them to click selfies with the plants and upload them on social media to inspire others.
