The first general body meeting chaired by newly elected Hubballi-Dharwad mayor Jyoti Patil witnessed unexpected developments because she was forced to send all the Congress party members out of the House as they created a ruckus before the commencement of the meeting here on Wednesday.

Strongly criticizing the attitude of the opposition members, the ruling party members observed that the former's approach was against the decorum of the meeting and tradition of the House.

As the council meeting was about to begin, Congress members raised the issue of not considering an additional subject for giving approval for Rs 10 crore SFC grant for the ward development works to be taken up in the constituency of MLA Vinay Kulkarni. Offended by their argument, the mayor and BJP members said in their defense that since the ongoing meeting was an extended one, no additional subject could be considered.
