MLA inspects various departments at KMCRI in Hubballi

HUBBALLI-Dharwad Central MLA Mahesh Tenginkai paid a surprise visit to Karnataka Medical College and Research Institute (KMCRI) Hospital, which serves as a lifeline for major parts of North Karnataka, on Monday.

He spent around two and a half hours at the hospital, inspecting various departments and discussing the basic facilities needed with KMCRI director Dr S F Kammar and other officials.

Issues arise due to a lack of recruitment of nurses and doctors in various departments of the institute's hospital. While the nursing section currently lacks staff, more appointments are urgently needed. For shift-wise duties, 22 nurses are required per shift, with three shifts per day, indicating a serious shortage. The state government needs to make permanent appointments, especially staff nurses and senior doctors, Mahesh stressed.
