Traffic chokes D'puri, RTO steps in to widen roads

WITH a rise in the number of accidents in Thoppur due to the ongoing construction of the ₹775 crore elevated highway, the regional transport office in Dharmapuri has stepped in to expand the roads, to facilitate smooth movement of vehicles and prevent disruptions.

Over the past few weeks, Thoppur ghat road has been facing severe traffic snarls due to the construction work, leading to accidents and traffic snarls lasting hours. In light of this, the RTO has decided to expand the road and remove the centre median to compensate for roads that have become narrow due to construction work.
