TNSTC buses skip Kovai village due to caste bias: SC residents
The New Indian Express Dharmapuri
|August 22, 2025
PEOPLE belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC) residing in Anna Nagar are alleging that officers of TNSTC Coimbatore are favouring caste Hindus by not operating two corporation buses to the village (Anna Nagar), where 300 SC families reside, from Kembanur, located near Thondamuthur in the district.
Although they have not lodged a formal complaint, Dravidar Viduthalai Kazhagam (DVK) has already petitioned the district administration in this regard. However, the DVK is yet to get a response.
When TNIE recently visited Kembanur, people said that due to caste discrimination, caste Hindus do not allow two buses (21 and 21B) to enter Anna Nagar, located just 400m from Kembanur. They alleged that officers of the TNSTC and local politicians are supporting this.
