Burial ground for SC community turns into 'dump site' in Somayanur

SCHEDULED Caste (SC) people in Bharathi Nagar, Somayanur village, on the outskirts of the city demanded the district administration to provide a burial ground in another site in their village as the present one on the Thadagam main road has become a dumping ground of sorts.
They said they cannot give a dignified burial to the deceased as residents from Thiruvalluvar Nagar dump waste in the burial ground.
A youth, R Saran from Bharathi Nagar, told TNIE, "A stench emanated from the waste dumped in the burial ground when we arrived for the preparation work ahead of the burial of my grandmother who died on Wednesday."
