Parents say govt school denied admission to students with low marks in Class 10 board exam

CLASS 11 admission is proving to be difficult even for students of the same school if they don't meet the cut-off set to weed out those considered academically weak.

Parents have alleged that students are being denied Class 11 admission at the Government Higher Secondary School in Othakkalmandapam on the outskirts of Coimbatore city due to low marks in the Class 10 public examination.

They further alleged a few teachers and the headmistress are forcing them to admit their children to a nearby private polytechnic college.

They also claimed the polytechnic staff are present on the school campus to conduct admissions, with the support of school administration.

A parent, who did not wish to be named, told TNIE, "As per instructions, we went to the school on May 19 and received the Transfer Certificate for my son, who scored 216 (out of 500) in the Class 10 exam.
