The Punjab government has suspended 25 officials, including three Deputy Superintendents and two Assistant Superintendents, as part of a major crackdown on corruption and drug networks operating in prisons across the state.

An official, requesting anonymity, said, "The big action was taken as per information received about corruption and drug networks in jails." He further said that the suspensions are aimed at bringing about systemic reform in prison management and ensuring greater transparency and efficiency. "This action is expected to significantly improve the functioning of jails and promote a more accountable system," the official added.
