KL govt-guv rift deepens over appointment of V-Cs

|August 02, 2025
The strained ties between the state government and Raj Bhavan further deteriorated on Friday, after Governor and Chancellor Rajendra Arlekar reappointed K Sivaprasad and Ciza Thomas as interim Vice-Chancellors of APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University (KTU) and Digital University Kerala (DUK), respectively, rejecting the panel of names proposed by the state.
The government, viewing Arlekar's decision as a rebuff to Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan's recent reconciliation efforts, has reportedly decided to boycott the discussions convened by the Governor on Saturday to reach a consensus on the appointment of regular V-Cs, as mandated by the Supreme Court.
