Kamal suggests 'principled relook' on certification process for films

ACTOR, Rajya Sabha member and Makkal Needhi Maiam president Kamal Haasan on Saturday stressed the need for a principled relook at the certification processes for films, with defined timelines for certification, transparent evaluation, and written, reasoned justification for every suggested cut or edit.
His statement came in the backdrop of the ongoing controversy over actor and Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam president Vijay’s ‘Jana Nayagan’ couldn’t hit the screens as scheduled due to the delay in obtaining certification from Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), and Sivakarthikeyan starrer ‘Parasakthi’ having to accommodate several cuts and changes in dialogues to get a U/A certification.
