THE Madras High Court on Friday temporarily restrained digital platforms from using artificial intelligence (AI)-generated images, voice and morphed pictures of music composer Ilaiyaraaja for commercial exploitation and making money by infringing upon his personality rights.
Granting the interim injunction on a civil suit and applications filed by the composer, Justice N Senthilkumar directed the defendants, including Amazon, YouTube, Facebook, Google and Sony Music and India Record Manufacturing Co Ltd, to file a counter-affidavit by December 19. Ilaiyaraaja prayed for the court to bar the digital platforms from commercially exploiting his photos, voice and attributes without consent.
