CMRL inks ₹1,538-cr deal with Alstom for 32 driverless trains under Phase 2

Trains to undergo 14 months of testing and trials following first delivery in February 2027
THE Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) has signed an agreement to procure 32 driverless three-car Unattended Train Operation (UTO) trains consisting of 96 cars. Alstom Transport India will supply the first driverless metro train under the ₹1,538.35-crore contract by February 2027. This will be CMRL's final procurement for its Phase 2 metro expansion project.
