AI agrees to fatigue norms, pilot body concerned
The New Indian Express Chennai
|September 16, 2025
WITH the DGCAs deadline for airlines and other stakeholders to respond to its advisory on the Fatigue Risk Management System (FRMS) for pilots ending on Monday, Air India has decided to adopt the new system.
A leading pilot association stated that the system in its present format presented significant concerns.
The FRMS puts the onus on the airline to ensure robust flight reporting mechanisms and maintain schedules that provide adequate opportunities for rest and sleep for the cockpit crew. It stresses that no punitive action be taken against pilots who report fatigue and are unable to perform their duties.
Air India sources told TNIE that they have decided to comply with the norms proposed by the aviation regulator.
