MINISTER for Higher Education and Pro-chancellor of Mangalore University Dr MC Sudhakar on Saturday said a Cabinet sub-committee constituted to look into strengthening state-run universities financially, has readied a report, based on which, measures will be taken for fiscal empowerment of these institutions.
Speaking at the 43rd annual convocation of Mangalore University at Mangala auditorium in Konaje, Sudhakar said, "Many universities here are in a precarious situation because we have been following Western universities. Earlier, medical and technical universities were under the purview of state-run universities generating income.
