'Any hospital, clinic can now apply to stock Morphine'

- EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE @Bengaluru

AFTER hospitals and medical institutions seeking to restock Morphine and Fentanyl — Essential Narcotic Drugs (ENDS) — reported they were still being asked to comply with the Karnataka Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) rules, despite these drugs being classified as ENDS under Central NDPS rules, the state Health department issued a clarification stating that the Karnataka NDPS Rules no longer apply to these drugs. Hospitals must follow the Central NDPS rules, it said.
