Apr-Jan fiscal deficit at 75% of FY25 target

THE government capex showed a remarkable 51% year-on-year increase in January even as the fiscal deficit in the April-January period at ₹11.7 lakh crore hit 75% of the revised budget target of ₹15.7 lakh crore.
The government has a target of keeping the fiscal deficit at 4.8% of the GDP.
The government capex, or the spending on asset creation, was at ₹72,022 crore in January compared to ₹47,557 crore in the same month last year.
