THE Supreme Court on Monday gave the Centre no wriggle room on granting permanent commission to women within the Indian Coast Guard, warning that the bench would step in if the government continued to stall.
Attorney General R Venkataramani said there were some functional and operational difficulties in granting permanent commissions to short service commission officers in the Coast Guard, as their case was different compared to the other armed forces.
