TWO youth from Haryana and Punjab, who took the 'Dunki' route to the US, have allegedly been kidnapped and kept as hostages in Guatemala.

The kidnappers have demanded $20,000 as ransom, family members and police said. The families have requested the Centre to get the youths back. Kuldeep Singh, father of kidnapped youth Yuvraj Singh of Mohna village in Haryana, along with villagers approached Kaithal SP Rajesh Kalia on Monday, requesting action for the youths' safe return.

"Police registered an FIR against the local travel agents and will take action against those responsible. We will write to the authorities," Kalia said.
