Special loan scheme will be launched for flood-hit small traders, shop owners and street vendors, says CM

CHIEF Minister M K Stalin on Saturday announced a ₹1,000 crore relief package, including housing facilities and loans for MSMEs and self-help groups, for people in the rain-ravaged districts of Chennai, Tiruvallur, Kancheepuram, Chengalpattu, Thoothukudi, Tirunelveli, Tenkasi, and Kanniyakumari.
The CM said the state government would rebuild fully damaged houses and repair partially damaged houses in Thoothukudi and Tirunelveli districts. In Tiruvallur, Kancheepuram, and Chengalpattu, 4 lakh and ₹2 lakh each will be given away to rebuild fully damaged houses and repair partially damaged houses, respectively. "A total of 4,577 houses will be rebuilt and 9,975 houses will be repaired at a cost of ₹385 crore through the rural development department. Detailed guidelines will be issued soon," he said.
