Sebi allows AMCs to invest in overseas mutual funds, unit trusts

DOMESTIC asset management companies (AMCs) can now invest in overseas mutual funds and unit trusts (UTs) that have exposure to domestic securities if such exposure is not more than 25% of their total assets.

In a circular issued Monday, the Securities and Exchange Board (Sebi) said to be eligible to invest, the target overseas MFs/UTs must be managed by an independent investment manager/fund manager who is actively involved in making all investment decisions for the fund.
The circular further said to be eligible for investment by domestic funds, the target overseas funds should meet the following conditions.
