The Centenary Journey Carried by People
-
Jifri thangal with Kerala Opposition leader V D Satheesan
A centenary journey carried by the people, the yatra became a living passage of time— transforming a hundred-year legacy into a shared responsibility
IN 2026, Samastha Kerala Jamiyyathul Ulama completes one hundred years of service. Founded in 1926, the organisation has shaped religious learning, social reform and community life across Kerala and beyond. To mark this centenary, Samastha undertook the Shadabdi Sandesh Yatra, a ten-day journey that carried its message across three states, not through grand displays, but through people.
The yatra was envisioned as a moving reminder of Samastha’s ideals and responsibilities. It began in the deep south and concluded on the western coast, touching towns, villages and hearts along the way.
As the sun slipped into the sea at Kanyakumari, the centenary journey quietly took shape in nearby Nagercoil. Known for its association with Malik bin Dinar, the town offered a fitting beginning. There was no rush or spectacle. Instead, there was prayer, patience and a shared sense of duty.
