APPROXIMATELY 46% of over 51 lakh eligible voters exercised their franchise in the civic elections held in Haryana on Sunday.
Polling was conducted to elect the mayors and members of all wards of seven Municipal Corporations: Gurugram, Manesar, Faridabad, Hisar, Rohtak, Karnal and Yamunanagar, and 21 municipalities. Bypoll was also for mayoral posts in Ambala and Sonepat.
A total of 51,06,134 voters were eligible to cast their votes in these elections. However, voter turnout for the bypoll in Ambala and Sonipat Municipal Corporation was low. So was the case with Faridabad and Gurugram.
