MP cartoonist given protection over 'objectionable' content on PM. RSS
The Morning Standard

THE Supreme Court on Tuesday decided to hear a batch of pleas seeking review of the 2022 verdict that upheld the Enforcement Directorate (ED) powers of arrest and attachment of property involved in money laundering, search and seizure under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) on July 31.
THE Supreme Court on Tuesday granted protection to the Indore-based cartoonist Hemant Malviya from coercive action. Malviya was accused of sharing objectionable content on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and RSS workers online.
The top court also stressed that there was the need to pass a judicial order to curb the malaise. "Log kisi ko bhi, kuch bhi keh dete hain (People say anything to anyone)," said a two-judge bench of the top court, headed by Justice Sudhanshu Dhulia and Justice Aravind Kumar. "We will have to do something about it."
