MHA seeks Prez nod to prosecute AAP's Jain in laundering case

THE Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has sought the President’s approval on prosecution sanction against former minister Satyendra Jain under Section 218 of Bharatiya Nagrik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023, sources said on Friday.
The request has been made on the basis of evidence gathered by the ED in its probe against the AAP leader under provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).
The findings are substantial enough to initiate legal proceedings in the designated court against Jain, the sources added.
Once the prosecution sanction is granted, the agency is free to proceed with the case in the court, as Jain has been under investigation over alleged financial irregularities and other charges.
