Imam incited fear among Muslim community: Court
The Morning Standard
|March 11, 2025
A series of scathing observations—kingpin of violence, venomous speeches, incited Muslims—were made by the Delhi Court on Monday as it framed charges against activist Sharjeel Imam, squarely blaming him for the violence in southeast Delhi's Jamia Nagar during the anti-CAA protests.

The Court observed that Imam incited and created fear within the Muslim community by falsely claiming that thousands of Muslims were being held in government detention camps, further provoking anger.
Additional Sessions Judge Vishal Singh of Saket Court on Monday formally framed charges against Imam for his alleged role in orchestrating the violent riots in Jamia Nagar on December 15, 2019, during protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).
