Early morning tremor shakes citv

RESIDENTS of Delhi-NCR woke to a scary rumbling sound of an earthquake at dawn on Monday. Alarmingly, the quake's epicentre was at a depth of 5km beneath Delhi's Dhaula Kuan locality.

People experienced 2-3 heavy shakes followed by tremors of receding intensity around 5.36 am. The rumbling lasted 35 seconds, creating panic. Residents fled their homes in panic, though no damage or casualties were reported.

The National Center for Seismology (NCS) narrowed down the epicentre of the quake of 4 magnitudes (4M) to near the Durgabai Deshmukh College of Special Education in South Delhi's Dhaula Kuan.

Immediately after the shockwaves, Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged the Delhi-NCR residents to remain calm, take appropriate measures, and stay alert for possible aftershocks.
