IN light of the preliminary probe report into the AI171 crash released by the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AIIB) on Saturday, citing an order by the US agency, Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), in December 2018, on the potential for disengagement of the fuel control switch locking feature on Boeing planes, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has on Monday asked all airlines flying these aircraft to inspect their switches before July 17.

Following the AIIB's preliminary report, Air India began the process of carrying out checks in the locking mechanism of all its Boeing 787s last weekend.
