Bullock cart race back in Punjab rural 'Olympics' amidst cruelty concerns

BULLOCK cart races are set to make a comeback at the Kila Raipur Rural Olympics in Punjab’s Ludhiana after a 12-year hiatus.
The games will be held from January 30 to February 1, with bullock carts participating in action on all the three days. Around 100 bulls are expected to take part in the event.
This event was prohibited in 2014 following directions from the Supreme Court, which dealt a blow to the popularity of the rural sports festival.
