‘Series’ makes amends

The Mercury

February 05, 2026

THERE was a feast of racing action at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth yesterday, with plenty of thrilling finishes to keep punters and racing followers entertained.

- WARREN LENFERNA

‘Series’ makes amends

Trainer Vaughan Marshall kicked off the day by saddling an emphatic winner for Mr Sewgoolam in World Series. This handsome colt, by One World was expertly steered to victory by Gavin Lerena and more than made amends for a disappointing debut. Well fancied and strongly supported in the market on that occasion, World Series failed to fire, much to the disbelief of both his trainer and rider. Yesterday, however, he showed his true colours, displaying a stride that seemed to stretch from Milnerton to Hollywoodbets Kenilworth. He quickened up like a progressive sort and is certainly one to follow, as he appears to have a bright future.

Different World

Race two produced a tight finish between Different World and Fast Train, with the verdict going the way of the James Crawford-trained, Luyolo Mxothwa-ridden Different World. The runner-up should not remain a maiden for much longer.
