THE race for the Uefa Champions League took a significant turn at Old Trafford yesterday as Manchester United moved into third place in the English Premier League standings.

A hard-fought 2-1 comeback victory over Crystal Palace extended United's remarkable unbeaten streak under interim manager Michael Carrick, further solidifying their credentials as one of the league's most improved sides in 2026.The hero of the afternoon was once again Benjamin Seko. The Slovenian forward, handed his first start in seven matches, rewarded Carrick’s faith with a match-winning performance.

However, the afternoon did not start according to the script for the Red Devils. Crystal Palace silenced the Stretford End inside four minutes when Maxence Lacroix outmuscled Leny Yoro to power home a header from a Brennan Johnson corner.
