Mofokeng shines as Pirates top the table

THE 21-year-old Relebohile Mofokeng breathed new life into his aspirations for a spot in Bafana Bafana’s squad ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) later this month.
On Saturday, he reignited his season with a dazzling display that not only earned him his first Player of the Match award but also significantly boosted his national team prospects. The talented winger played a pivotal role in Orlando Pirates’ 2-0 victory over Durban City at Moses Mabhida Stadium, a result that propelled the club to the top of the Betway Premiership standings.
Mofokeng, who had struggled with form earlier in the season, left observers pondering his AFCON place despite being included in coach Hugo Broos’ preliminary squad last week. However, he proved his mettle with an inspiring performance that came just in time for both club and country.
