Community shocked as mother charged for Jayden-Lee Meek’s murder

POLICE have not ruled out the possibility of more arrests as their investigation continues into the tragic murder of 11-year-old Jayden-Lee Meek.
This comes as Tiffany Nicole Meek, the 31-year-old mother of Jayden-Lee, appeared in the Roodepoort Magistrate's Court yesterday on charges of murder, crimen injuria, and defeating the ends of justice following her arrest on Friday.
Meek wept uncontrollably in the dock during her court appearance for her son's murder. She told the court that she intends to appoint a new attorney after her initial legal representative failed to appear. She is set to return to court for her bail application on Friday. She remains in custody.
In May, Jayden-Lee’s mysterious murder sparked anger and residents of Fleurhof and surrounding areas marched to the Florida police station to demand justice.
The Grade 6 learner, who was reported missing in May 2025 by his mother and was later found unconscious on the staircase of his Fleurhof apartment, was declared dead at the hospital.
