"IS IT true that in New Zealand all coffee and tea is served in soup bowls because all the cups are in South Africa?"
-
The question is posed in an item that finds its way onto my cellphone. Rugby World Champions twice over.
Yippee! But unfortunately, this doesn't apply to the competition one rung down. Saturday’s trouncing of the Sharks by the Leicester side was nothing less than humiliating.
It illustrates a vast gap between our rugby capabilities at the national and provincial levels. This obviously needs to be worked on.
How about reestablishing the Currie Cup to its former status, embodying the top rugby talent of every province, the first such organisation in the world?
How about working on getting club rugby going again, blending amateur with professional talent at the provincial level?
When you look at the rugby schools in the province, there is surely abundant talent that is abandoned on graduation. Can this not be harnessed?
