Wearsiders ready to offer loan star Chris a contract

PREMIER League-bound Sunderland are ready to offer Bournemouth loan star Chris Mepham a permanent contract after he played a major part in their promotion campaign.
The experienced Wales international was instrumental in helping the Black Cats to the Premier League and, although left out of the play-off semi-finals, he returned at Wembley as an early replacement for the injured Luke O'Nien to help defeat Sheffield united.
The 27-year-old has been a key player in the Wearside and according to Sportsboom, Sunderland head coach Regis Le Bris is hoping to sign Mepham on a free transfer when his current contract expires on June 30.
Mepham, capped 48 times by his country, played 40 times for the Black Cats last season and impressed at the heart of the club's solid defence. Mepham enjoyed his time at the Stadium of Light so much he is eager to make his stay permanent.
