Tributes to officer who 'lit up room with his honesty'

THE Royal Air Force has paid tribute to a “true gentleman” officer who has sadly died.

Warrant Officer Alastair ‘Paddy’ McNickle, who was based at RAF Boulmer in Northumberland, has been remembered as a man who “lit up a room with his honesty’.

WO MeNickle joined the RAF in April 1989 and served across the UK as an aerospace systems operator and manager. He deployed on many occasions to the Falkland Islands, Iraq, the former Yugoslavia and wider Middle East.

Much of his later career was spent at RAF Boulmer, where he chose to settle with his family in AInwick.
