Top try-scorer Wades into Bulls

NEWCASTLE Red Bulls have added proven finishing power with the news that Christian Wade is switching back to rugby union.

The second-highest try-scorer in Gallagher Premiership history will head up north in December following his spell with Super League champions Wigan Warriors.

Now just eight behind Chris Ashton in the race to become the league’s all-time leading try machine, Wade has crossed the line a remarkable 93 times in England’s top flight during a varied career which has also seen spells in the French Top 14, American football and rugby league.

His seven Gallagher Prem hattricks remains a league record, with the 34-year-old touching down 11 tries in 14 topflight games for Gloucester last season.

Newcastle Red Bulls director of rugby Steve Diamond was delighted to secure the signature of the former England international, who has also represented the British & Irish Lions. He said: “Christian has scored tries wherever he has been and remains one of the best finishers in the game.
