Tasty new offering to launch at Metro station

THE founder of a popular Newcastle pizza chain is to launch a deli with a site at one of the city's Metro stations.
Alex Walker, co-founder of the acclaimed Scream for Pizza, which has sites in Sandyford and on the Quayside, is launching Awesome Franks in the former Richard Granger Wines site at West Jesmond Metro station.
The venture has been supported with a five-figure investment from the Northern Powerhouse Investment Fund II, managed by NEL Fund Managers.
The funding will help turn the site into a family-friendly venue serving locally sourced ingredients and bread from Northern Rye, with unique sandwich fillings such as salt and pepper squid and Northumberland crab.
